Mission

Cater for the needs of individuals with moderate to severe learning disabilities, and also those with the addition of physical disability.

Give equal importance to the educational and developmental needs of our residents and are committed to education throughout life.

Ensure that our residents can achieve the highest individual standard of learning and of personal and social development.

Enable our residents to make appropriate choices about matters that affect the course and quality of their own lives.

We develop in our residents a sense of responsibility for others and their immediate and wider community.

Provide our staff with a supportive environment to enable them to learn and grow as individuals and to support the development and identity of all residents.

History

In 1982 St. Davids Care in the Community was founded as a registered charity. St. Davids first property, named Spring Gardens, was to eventually house 16 young people. Lyn Hall, Mair Morgan Grey and Maureen Jones ran this home together while teaching social training and giving the clients an education they might have missed otherwise.

Over the years St. Davids Care has increased the services it can offer and now runs seven registered homes. Maureen is now Director of Care. Lyn has assumed all the day to day running responsibilities in the main office whilst Mair now works from home giving support to the charity in a number of ways.

The real success of our organisation is based on a firm foundation of standards. Although founded as a Christian organisation, we accept all beliefs. We have never advertised our services worldwide although as well as our UK residents we also have residents from the USA, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

Of ourselves enough has been said, we have a wonderful team of carers who devote themselves to the work and whose standards are those of excellence. From the following pages we will introduce our houses and residents and aim to give you a flavour of life here in St Davids.

Personnel

St. Davids Care in the Community is managed by two Directors, Miss Lyn Hall, M.B.E. and Miss Mair Morgan-Grey, M.B.E. who founded the company together in 1978.

The organisation operates its registered properties, under the direction of four Registered Managers: Miss Lyn Hall, Mrs. Maureen Jones, Ms. Wendy Hale, and Mr. Alex Rosemeyer. St. Davids CITC could not offer the quality of service it does without over 40 qualified staff of working in the areas of care, education, maintenance, administration and catering. It is the policy of St. Davids CITC that all staff attend in-house training at least twice a year.

St. Davids CITC provides a safe and secure environment for residents and staff, and our seven registered homes are annually reviewed for all aspects of fire, food and health safety by Croners Consulting. Detailed procedures are in place for all staff regarding fire precautions and emergency procedures, behaviour management, medication administration, all of which are covered in our comprehensive employee handbook.
