The tenacity and sheer hard work of our principal fundraiser Laura Morris King resulted in yet another remarkable chapter in the fundraising journey she has inspired.
On Tuesday 16th June 2009, Laura almost singlehandedly staged a celebrity cricket dinner held at The Nursery Pavilion, Lords.
True legends of the game including Sir Garfield Sobers,Brian Lara,Mike Gatting & Dilip Doshi were in attendance to support fundraising for St Davids Care in the Community. Master of Ceremonies, Rob Curling of Sky News welcomed more than 150 cricket enthusiasts, including Lord Jeffrey Archer, who once again acted as our auctioneer. Following an excellent Dinner, guests were entertained by a Q & A session hosted by Mike Gatting. Sir Garfield and Brian who were able to recount highlights and a good deal of humerous anectdotes from their illustrious careers.
An enthralled audience, including Tony King, parent of one the communities residents were then asked to participate in a series of fundraising initiatives which raised in excess of £10k for the Charity.
Seeing our tiny charity in Wales showcased in such a way is truly breathtaking, and has only been made possible by Laura's continuing inspiration.
